The Capitals played their most dominant game of the season to move to 5-0, their best start in team history. Panthers could not keep up with the Caps and looked tired from playing the Lightning the night before.
Game Notes
- Vokoun posted his first shutout of the season. He did not not face any real challenges but made a few solid saves.
- Semin looked good on both ends of the ice. The winger had a sweet goal, a quick shot from a low angle that snuck by the rookie goaltender. He also had a few defensive plays. No more #SashaCares.
- Does Hamrlik have anything left? It looks to me his legs are all dust. He is silky smoothe with the puck, but I've seen on multiple occasions opposing forwards blowing by him.
- Joel Ward may be the most underated player on the Caps. He can do it all on both ends. The third line will be a huge asset this year, because they can defend well and maintain puck possession in the offensive end.
- The 4th line also had a very good game. Had a few scoring chances. To this point in the year, Boudreau has shown confidence in them, and gives them a lot of PT.
- Caps specials teams are working. Florida's top ranked PP, on the first chance, barely were able to get it into the Capitals zone. The Caps' PP, got on the board with a Johannson goal. Currently, the Caps are 3rd in PP% @ 29.4% and 20th in PK% @ 81.3%.
Overall, a solid game by the Capitals. Would have liked to see them put in a few more goals. Can't wait for the match up with the Flyers!
