The playoffs amplify all major sports, but hockey raises the
level unlike any other. The grueling
personal battles developed during a seven game series create unmatched passion
from the players, coaches, and diehard fans alike. Players stand toe to toe against each other
fighting to be the last team standing. A
battle takes
place each shift—full of hatred but rooted with respect. No other sport requires the amount of
sacrifice expected of NHL players. Emotionally,
players cannot afford to focus on anything besides the sixteen wins it takes to
clinch the Cup. Physical pain goes to
the wayside. Players gladly give up
blood, sweat, and even teeth
for a shot at lifting Lord Stanley. Whether
it is a monstrous hit, a timely goal, or a great save; each play has the
potential to alter a series. While the
emotions and intensity cannot easily be described, the NHL said it best—history will
be made. Why? Because
it’s the Cup.
